Robert Gothan

CEO, Accountagility Ltd

With a creative background as a jazz pianist, Robert brings a diverse range of skills to the table as CEO and founder of Accountagility Ltd.

Born in South Africa, Robert moved to the UK in 1997, and since then has taken a number of roles which included CFO of a Lloyds’ Broker & finance controller of a managing agency in the Lloyds market. As a finance process problem-solver, he has advised organisations such as BHP, Euroclear, XL, Liberty Mutual, Aspen Re and others, engaging with most areas within the finance function including treasury, tax, planning, group accounting, reporting and expenses, as well as many specialist areas within the insurance market.

With a keen interest in process and achieving better leverage of finance staff, Robert became frustrated at the lack of technology available to support the demanding requirements of the finance function. So, in 2008 he began designing software to solve these challenges. This became the ORYX Suite, a robust yet user-friendly platform which can provide the complete “end-to-end” process automation experience, but in a finance-friendly way.

Robert brings a singular mix of skills to any process challenge, including consultancy, out of the box thinking and deep technical capabilities. His practical approach and unique insights into process challenges stem from him having been the go-to person in finance for many years, and his direct experiences at the coalface.

Robert founded Accountagility to take ORYX to the market and has built a company with an amazing team, and a growing reputation and client base.

He is an avid chef who loves playing chess, travelling, robotics and all things tech. More recently, he was recruited by his 8-year old daughter to climb trees and hunt for Pokémon and admits, he really enjoyed not being the boss for once.
